Paul is the Executive Director of the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and a member of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ). Specialized in cross-border investigations, Paul is a co-founder of Investigative Dashboard and Visual Investigative Scenarios. He designs and coordinates investigative projects in the field of global organized crime.
He was a recipient of the Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship (2001), the Milena Jesenska Press Fellowship (2002), the Knight International Journalism Fellowship (2007–2008), and the Stanford Knight Journalism Fellowship (2009–2010). Paul has coordinated investigative departments at Evenimentul Zilei and Jurnalul Național and has published investigations into major corruption cases such as Roșia Montană, the frigates bribery case, the Rafo case, Voiculescu–Crescent, the football transfers scandal, and others.
