The fortune of now imprisoned Romanian mogul, Dan Voiculescu, is rooted back to the period when communist Romania was doing business with the Crescent group of companies. Voiculescu’s Crescent brokered a significant part of the Romanian industrial exports in the 80s, when the Ceaușescu regime was paying the State’s foreign debt by starving its people.
